eorge Chalich is pretty much unknown outside the northwest, but contrary to the old saying, he is one prophet revered in his own land. At the age of 70, George umpires high school baseball, and referees high school football and high school basketball.
His past includes a nineteen-year stint as an NCAA Division I umpire, nine years as an NCAA Division I basketball referee, and three years as a AAA minor league relief umpire. He caught for the University of Washington, Gonzaga University and a number of semi-pro teams. He coached college and semi-pro teams. In 1988 and 1990 he was invited to assist the Swedish and Russian baseball teams in preparation for international competition. In short, George has been there, done that.
