Getting The Call Right Vs. Umpire Dignity

xactly what does that mean? Does that mean we should ALWAYS ask our partners when someone questions our decisions? Does that mean that getting each and every individual call right should be our primary objective all of the time, completely at the expense of “umpire dignity?”

I would say “NO” to both of these questions. If an umpire works hard to get in position, watches the play, and makes a call, then this call should stand. In the Memorial Day game example (see part II), the acquiescence of my partner opened him up to appeal requests throughout the game. Reversing his call damaged his credibility and the credibility of the umpiring crew.
