The buildup

This was a last chance tournament to see who would qualify for an invitation to the USSSA championship in Colorado that summer. It was a two-day event, and my assignment was to call the 12u bracket both days. Well, it turned out that there were only four teams in that bracket because we've had a couple of other qualifier tournaments and most of the other teams were already in, I guess.

Moving along. On Sunday, the championship day, it turned out that with the way pool play had gone on Saturday, the two teams who were to play the first game (at 10:00) were going to end up playing each other again at 2:00 for 3rd place and therefore, the teams playing at 12:00 were also going to play in the championship at 4:00. So, both of those first games were pushovers and didn't count for beans.
