o you think you know how to read and understand a rulebook, isn’t that so? After all, you’re a well educated person, right? Heck, you’re clever enough to be on the internet, aren’t you? Let me tell you: For most of you who are reading this, the answer is that you probably don’t really know what you think you know — certainly not about baseball.
Any cleric will tell you that when reading the Bible, the only way to divine its truth is to read the Word prayerfully, always remaining open to the Author’s guidance; and even then, you may still make the mistake of letting your own social beliefs and understanding get in the way. Well, the OBR is our baseball "bible" of sorts, and the only way to divine its truth is also to read the words while keeping in mind the author’s spirit and intent.
