Designated what?

These days no one can afford to drink and drive. Not only are the risks of getting caught way too high, but only losers fail to plan ahead. Right? So you know you’re going to a potential blow-out with your buddies, and you don’t plan on being able to drive yourself home after. What do you do?

Well, if you’re smart, you’ll organise one of your friends to be the designated driver. But who will do it? Most times I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that it’s the guy who is least likely to party all that much anyway. He’s someone who doesn’t want to end up wearing a "nerd" tag by staying home, so he’ll often volunteer for the job as an excuse to avoid the real action. You know, he's one of those guys who really doesn’t know how to party; that's a pretty rare breed in baseball circles.
