Editor's note: People, particularly those with a sedentary lifestyle, should always seek the guidance of their physician before commencing any exercise program, including a stretching regimen like the one outlined in this series.

For some, stretching is all the exercise they want or they can fit into a busy schedule. It was partly for those reasons it was the primary activity proposed in this series.

In reality, we only scratched the surface of stretching and fitness. But it wasn’t our intent to turn this series into a twenty-installment piece by including all the possible stretches and other physical exercises that are beneficial to one’s fitness.

Should the reader decide to pursue stretching further, hundreds of excellent sources are available. Since many of those disagree with one another on technique and matters such as how long you should hold a stretch, I recommend you first consult with a competent therapist or trainer who has remained active with current thought.
