New area, new customs
My "move to Arizona" story started a couple of weeks ago on this page. Click the title if you missed it, or quickly forgot. In a nutshell, though, for readers who like to press on: Preparations began several months before the actual move. Early warning to old assignors smoothed my departure season and advance calls to potential new assignors served to break the ice. So when the moving truck was empty, most of the boxes stored, and the umpire gear found, I was ready to get started.
The first round of assignments rolled around quickly, beginning with a weeknight single game and a sequence of games during a mid-season American Legion baseball tournament.
