DH doesn't mean dumb head
Lots of people hate the designated hitter rule. Objective data, though, show the DH has added immeasurable excitement to games. Bases loaded and the ninth spot is at bat. It's certain he's not a great hitter, but it's also certain he's better than the average National League pitcher.
Lots of people hate the NFHS, or as we call it, the FED. A prolific message writer from San Francisco claims the reason for the strange FED rules is: They want to dumb down the book so it becomes difficult for the umpire to screw it up. Some, but not Bob, argued Indianapolis wanted the book to match the caliber of their umpires. I don't think there's any truth to those rumors.
