n Part I, I broke down the particulars of a post by Twest on The Forum. Her husband had been threatened with ejection for having an indiclicker in the dugout. She also outlined in her posts various ways that the umpires were biased against her son's team. Setting aside the fact that I will guarantee the coach of the other team thought the umpires were very fair, I will assume that she was telling the truth: The facts as she presented are accurate. I then pointed out that she is not the best of parents for allowing her son to continue in that tournament. If the facts are not accurate, then she is delusional. I lean towards the delusional camp, but for the purposes of this article I will just say that she is a bad parent.
Sports as war
Sports are a civilized society's substitution for war. They are a way to prepare the youngsters of a society for the serious business of war in a setting that makes it fun. Teamwork is taught, and defeat is taught. But there are some other lessons that need to be learned to be a successful warrior.
