Aspirin
t's official, so to speak. Yesterday all five national news networks had a story about aspirin and vitamin E. All I remember about their blathering is that males benefit more than females from the use of a daily dose of aspirin. Naturally, in my biased state of mind I wondered if that would apply to umpires benefiting more than coaches from a daily dose of aspirin. Then I remembered from my coaching days that coaches, dedicated coaches, spend more time with their players than umpires. "Who has more headaches?" is up for grabs.
Still, consider for a moment: See if you can recall a summary of your summer games to date. Under what circumstances did you encounter the most resistance to the free exercise of your chosen avocation? When did they bitch most about you or your judgment call?
