Carl: We met several years ago in Cedar Rapids, IA, at the Iowa HS Baseball Coaches Assn. Clinic. This was my last summer after 28 years, and I was selected to coach the Large School East team in our annual end-of-the-year senior all-star series. As fate would have it, the four umpires were four of Iowa's best and guys I always highly respected. However, it was also fitting that there was a situation that was debatable. I'm being lazy here by not going to the books first, so be it. Dan Pomeroy of Coon Rapids, IA, was behind the plate.
