he crew going to Truro for game two of the finals were in a no-win situation. The night before, our friend Jim allowed a felony to go unpunished. At this very early point in the series, we have sent the wrong message. The good thing is that it is still early in the series. All the umpires need do is jump on any foolishness, and we (they) will get things back on track.

Everybody's friend

The crew for game two consisted of three guys who are very capable of working this level of baseball. If not, they wouldn't be working at this point of the season. On their own, they are each solid umpires. They get the calls right most of the time, and the plate umpire usually is solid behind the plate. So, they are all very good technical umpires. Remember, though, making calls is the easy part of umpiring.
