read. Then I read again. And again. I kept reading Roland's piece, trying to figure out exactly what Roland is trying to tell us. Besides referencing numerous people, he really hasn't helped anyone learn how to make this call consistently with any frame of reference.
Seattle will be fun
About the only thing Roland told me that will be of any use is that Jim Evans is a great teacher. He must be because that is all that Roland talked about. Jim says this, Jim says that. Well, I am going to Seattle in the winter for a three-day Evans clinic. At least I know I will get my money's worth.
So, instead of telling us what he does to get this play right, all Roland told us was that you need only to listen to Jim Evans. Jim says get to a 90-degree angle and all we need to do is bust our butts to get to that position. From there we will be able to see everything.
Hogwash. No disrespect to Jim Evans, but I really don't think Jim would want us busting our butts to get a 90-degree angle on the front end of a double-play.
