Gettin' there

ituation: Your umpiring goal is to work as a conference umpire in D1 baseball. Your boss at your real job has been fired. You now have a new boss with a reputation as a no-nonsense type of woman. She returns from maternity leave to become the first female Vice President in your company's history. Your assignor calls at 10:30 AM on her first day of work and says: "You have done a great job this year, and I want you to go work a fall ball game for the Arkansas Razorbacks tomorrow."  What do you do?

"Hey boss, I know you don't know me or anything about me. I am a high school baseball umpire and have been asked to work a game for the Razorbacks tomorrow afternoon."

"What does your calendar look like?"

"Empty."

"Go."

I like her already.
