o continue my discussion with the coach:
"Listen Blair, I am not an umpire. I am coaching!" I responded. "I just want to know what the pitcher did to balk."
"For starters, you shouldn't be out here. You can't argue the balk," Blair replied.
"I am not arguing the balk. I just want to know what rule he broke. How can I teach him if I don't know what he did? Now do your job and tell me what rule he broke!" At this point, my voice had become a little louder, and I was growing quite impatient.
"You're gone!" Blair said as he thrust his arm out in a sweeping motion.
"I'm what? What the hell are you ejecting me for? This is crap!" I said, getting increasingly agitated.
"Look Blaine, of all people, you know better than to come out here and challenge that balk call," Blair said.
"What do you mean, of all people?" I inquired. "I am just coming out and asking for a rule and you boot me. I don't give a rat's ass if you think I should know the rule. I am a coach, not an umpire!" At that point, I am doing my best impression of an MLB manager and have gotten in my brother's face!
