The Hardest Rule

Typically

hen the world is typically rotating upon its proper axis, the designated hitter bats for the pitcher. In the American League, we all understand the rule in its pristine simplicity. Only in NCAA does the water get muddy.

Here's a typically common question, proposed by the collegiate umpire association's clinic leader back in 1989. He stated that if the pitcher is allowed to bat for anyone other than the DH, the pitcher is removed from the game [7-2 AR]. Typically!
