couldn't believe it. I was so tickled. Rusty Greer, former Texas Ranger, was going to coach one of the teams in a TCL game. I had the plate job, which prompted sheer delight.. I was gonna get a chance to show my stuff in the presence of a man who had lived in an ethereal universe.

Game went great. Pitching was so superb that I never had to go off the black, never had to whip out my protractor and gauge a pitch's distance, one ball width, one and one-half ball width, on the outside edge of the plate. TCL uses wood bats, understandably. There's no need to stretch the plate, east to west, as I might do in an aluminum bat game.

Game time, 2:13, nails! No problems. Except one!

There was one play in which R1, with one out, decided he was gonna steal second. Count was 2/2, not a stealing count in my book. Maybe in yours, not in mine. I don't think it was in the pitcher's book either since he didn't even pay attention to the abnormally large lead over at first.
