Play: R1. B1 hits into the right-center gap. As R1 rounds second, the plate umpire notices that the shortstop has wandered into the base path. R1 slows, but only momentarily, and then continues beating his way to third. The plate umpire points to the spot and says: "That's obstruction!" R1 runs through his coach's stop sign and gets tagged out about six feet from the plate.
